When you are ready to get started recording mp3s and podcasting on your blog the first thing you will need is a good microphone. I have 3 different ones that I use for various reasons, but the first one I can recommend is a Logitech USB headset. I recently purchased the white, ‘Logitech H150’ as seen in the image above at Walmart for $19.95. It’s an easy to use, noise-cancelling mic. You just need to plug and you’re ready to go!
In the middle of this tutorial I also will share other mics I like to use on the go and for the BEST audio quality. You will also get to listen to an audio from my Information Sells Series, which details the different tools that I use to create and sell my information products / digital downloads online as well as a complete listing of my microphone recommendations, audio recording software of preference and audio recording web tool solutions.
Logitech Headsets are good for beginners, but when I was ready to get a clearer, more professional audio recording I purchased a Snowball Mic on Amazon.com. You can find them for anywhere between $69 – $129 online, which is more than Logitech, but worth the investment when you are ready to create commercial quality audio files.
When I need to record audio on the go, either to quickly note an idea or host an on-the-fly interview I use the voice memo app on my iPhone 4. It’s easy to use, the only tricky part is downloading the mp3 files. If your iPhone is synced to your computer, you will find all your recordings stored under ‘voice memos’ in itunes. If you can not sync your iPhone you can also use this web tool I found called ‘iFun box.’
Steps to Using iFun Box to Retrieve Voice Memos
1- download, install and option iFunbox
For Windows: http://dl.i-funbox.com/ifunbox_setup.exe
For Mac: http://dl.i-funbox.com/mac/ifunboxmac…
2- Go to Voice Memos
3- Select all and Copy to PC
Audio Recording Software and Web Tools I use
SistaSense Circle Audio Session
To listen to all the audio sessions in that series you can go to my Information Sells page.
To record my mp3 files I primarily use Audacity – Audio Editor and Recorder, click here to download free version and/or get the paid version (recommended) for a nominal fee. Once your audio file is recorded you can save it as a .wav file or export it as an mp3 file as shown in the image below.
Audio Recording Software Alternatives
If you would like to record your audio from a web tool online you can try Cinch.FM or Chirbit, while I have not personally used these I have seen other people use them online.
If you would like to also get started with adding videos to your blog, you should also review this post: YouTube Marketing Made Simple.
In addition to this post you can review all my tech tool recommendations inside SistaSense In Print Magazine available at http://mag.sistasense.com.
