4 Reasons Successful Business Owners Use Landing Pages

I know what some of you are thinking. “Here we go. More technical jargon. Landing pages, squeeze pages…Could someone explain this stuff in English please?”

Well, it doesn’t get any more clear than this.

If you want to successfully sell your products and services online, you must use landing pages.

A landing page is an extension of our online ad. It is the page our prospect or potential customer sees when they click on our banner ad, Pay-Per-Click (PPC) ad or link in an e-mail marketing campaign. It is highly targeted and focused on getting our prospects to respond to our call-to-action.

So, why do successful business owners use them?

1. We use landing pages to increase our qualified leads.

A prospect is interested in what you are offering, so they click your link or ad. Now, what are you going to do about it? Leave it to chance that they will respond? Or, are you going to engage them and in the process, give them many reasons to act right now! The call-to-action may be to join your mailing list or contact you for a complimentary consultation. Whatever it is, a lead is not a lead unless you can get some information about them and follow up. With a well-designed landing page, you can do just that.

2. We use landing pages to increase our online sales.

I’m on your mailing list and you initiate an e-mail marketing campaign. You send out this great email promoting 50% off your strawberry-scented bath soap. “Ooooh! I love that stuff! And it’s half off? Must get it.” I click the link in the e-mail which takes me to guess where? You got it, the home page of your website. I see promotions for shaving cream, body spray, bubble bath….everything but the strawberry-scented bath soap. I get tired of looking and leave your website. A good landing page has one focus, product or service. You don’t want to give your prospects any reason not to buy what you’re selling.

3. We use landing pages to improve our search engine ranking.

An optimized landing page can get you to that first page on Google without having to pay one red cent for ads. Now, that’s what I call smart marketing! Since landing pages are highly focused on a specific product or service, it’s easier to rank high for keywords and phrases related to that product or service. All it takes is strategically placing those keywords on the page and using them throughout the content.

4. We use landing pages to improve the effectiveness of our online marketing campaigns.

By using different landing pages, targeted at the same product or service, and reviewing the analytics data for those pages, we can determine which of our campaigns are most effective. Our analytics data will tell us how many visitors the page received and how many of those visitors converted. In other words, how many responded to our call-to-action. For those campaigns that do very well, we know to mimic those campaigns, as best we can, in the future. Using landing pages, along with analytics, allows us to see what works for our businesses and what doesn’t.

Want to be successful at selling your products and services online? Do what other successful business owners do. Use landing pages. They are a critical component in your online marketing efforts. When it comes to making more money online and successfully growing your business, don’t leave anything to chance.
