I would love to tell you that you can build your business in a bubble from your own knowledge and creativity, but I can’t. It all starts with you, but it doesn’t end there. The times I made the most strides in my business were when I stopped trying to be superwoman and started realizing I didn’t know everything! When I figured that out, I quickly started to find and follow the leaders not just in my industry, but quite frankly, leaders in any industry that were successfully making money by doing their own thing. Marketing knows no business. What I mean is that you don’t need to just follow the folks or the marketing solutions within your industry. The fundamentals of good marketing strategies can be applied to any business, if you are willing to seek out the best and learn from them.
Who are the experts in your industry; the published authors, coaches, bloggers, and noteworthy entrepreneurs? These are the people you need to study and learn from. Your objective should be to figure out strategies that work for them, so you can incorporate those same strategies into your own business. Every market is different, so if you study the pros of your field you are essentially getting free coaching. Through them you will discover content that appeals to your target market and/or untapped markets that you can dominate.
